The series *Composition of Emptiness and Fullness* explores Chapter 7 ‘Emptiness and Fullness’, of Sun Tzu’s *The Art of War*. The influence of this work on military strategy spans from the 5th century BC to the present day, and is applied in politics, management, philosophy and social research (among other fields). There is also much to be gained from this work in the fields of art and painting.
How can we lead a life without conflict? Gather round a table and keep it in balance? For this, which cups need to be emptied, and which filled? Which colours can we add, and which would disrupt the overall picture? Where is disruption appropriate? The series of images presented in this exhibition reflect on the interplay between emptiness and fullness, both in the context of visual composition and, on a conceptual level, in social interaction.
