Back then, when I moved to this city, the people seemed to remain the same. They ran along the streets, up and down again. In the rain beneath umbrellas, in the sunshine behind dark sunglasses, an ongoing game of hide-and-seek.
When I am not working at the restaurant, I am usually in the studio, working with the material, losing myself in thought processes, or surrendering to moments of giving up. Then I listen to music and go to a café. When the taste of bitter coffee unfolds in my mouth, I begin to romanticize and push away life, the news, the wars, and the bombs.
Prime canvases white, or paint over them instead? Search for patterns and discover gaps. Reveal surfaces. Distort lines, layers, and material. Search for truths. Create illusions, only to shatter them. Return to the beginning, to the zero point, whatever that may be.
I ask myself: where am I supposed to grow when everything around me is being cut down?
